Many people may ask, how much amount of epoxy floor primer is appropriate? What type of primer should be chosen? In fact, there are many factors that affect the choice of primer. This article takes you to choose the right primer and shares it with your friends to learn together.
The application of primer is the most basic step in the construction process of epoxy floor paint. The primer layer is located between the floor surface and the epoxy floor coating, which can enhance the adhesion between the epoxy floor coating and the ground while sealing the bottom layer. It can be said to be a crucial step in epoxy flooring.
01 Quantity of primer
The construction of epoxy floor paint generally requires the strength of the concrete floor to be greater than C25. If it is C25 concrete, the amount of primer used when the concrete density is high is generally 0.15kg/m2. If the ground strength is too low, the ground is loose, and it is prone to sanding, the amount of epoxy floor primer will also be increased according to the actual environment and situation.
If the ground base is too poor and the amount of primer is not appropriately increased, the ground will still turn white after applying the primer once. After the epoxy flooring is completed, if heavy objects frequently crush the flooring, it may cause delamination, detachment, and other phenomena.
02 Selection of Primer
Primers can generally be divided into two types: penetrant and film-forming. When choosing a primer, we prioritize penetrant primers.
Penetrating primer can penetrate well into concrete, enhancing the adhesion between epoxy floor coating and ground while sealing the bottom layer.
Although modeling primer can quickly cure on the surface to save materials, it is like a layer of tape sticking to the floor surface, and its adhesion to concrete is far inferior to that of penetrating primer.
Construction method of 03 primer
When the flatness of the concrete layer is high, choosing to use a flat knife scraping method for primer construction can save primer usage and reduce construction costs.
When the flatness of concrete is not high, choose the form of rolling coating for construction. If a flat knife is still used for construction in this situation, the primer will remain in the potholes between the flat knife and the ground, which will increase the amount of primer used and increase the construction cost.
Primer is an important part of floor construction, therefore, in order to avoid the trouble of renovation, choosing the appropriate primer is particularly important! Friends in need can contact us.
