The excellent properties of polyurethane mortar flooring, such as moisture resistance, high and low temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and impact resistance, coupled with high cost, have made it almost exclusively serving specific industries for a long time. It has become a customized solution for food industries such as dairy products, beverages, central kitchens, and meat processing.
But at the same time, we found that many properties of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring, including its ability to be used in damp base construction, high Vicat softening point, low temperature resistance, and strong chemical corrosion resistance, have not been fully utilized. The application scope of water-based polyurethane mortar self leveling has a broader development space.


At present, epoxy flooring is mainly used in the fields of civilian and commercial garages. From the actual use effect, there are many problems such as tire noise, tire marks, and scratches.
Water based polyurethane mortar flooring can effectively reduce tire noise, prevent tire marks, have good water permeability, and strong oil resistance. It is important to note that water-based polyurethane mortar is not as sensitive to substrate humidity as epoxy flooring. Therefore, construction during the rainy season is worry free, ensuring construction progress and quality.

However, the application of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring in the garage industry is limited due to the high material cost and inability to meet the economic needs of the client. Therefore, improving the fluidity of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring and reducing its thickness are the basis for the large-scale promotion of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring in the garage industry.



Epoxy resin flooring is generally not used for cold storage floors. Within the temperature range of -20 ℃ to -35 ℃, epoxy resin is severely brittle and easily damaged under general impact forces, losing its protective effect on the floor. Once the ground is damaged, it will affect the hygiene and safety of food storage in the cold storage and the normal operation of forklifts. What is even more headache inducing is the difficulty of maintenance in the later stage. The energy cost of shutting down and starting up the refrigeration equipment is extremely high. Once the refrigeration of the cold storage is turned on, it is basically not stopped for the purpose of repairing the ground. The lost cold chain storage and transportation costs are also difficult to bear.
Waterborne polyurethane mortar flooring not only has excellent durability at high temperatures, but also performs well in low-temperature environments. Based on actual project experience, polyurethane mortar with a thickness of 4-6mm can generally be used in an environment of -20 ℃, while polyurethane mortar with a thickness of 6-12mm can be used in an environment of -35 ℃.
At present, there have been numerous successful cases of polyurethane mortar flooring in the cold chain industry. Although water-based polyurethane mortar flooring has a high initial investment cost, it is strictly constructed according to construction standards and requires almost no maintenance, which can greatly improve operational efficiency and add value to owners.



Waterborne polyurethane mortar flooring has excellent chemical corrosion resistance, and only long-term immersion in a few acids, alkalis, or solvents can cause corrosion of waterborne polyurethane mortar flooring. However, the current application of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring in the chemical industry is limited to a few indoor floors in the fine chemical industry.

There are a large number of tank areas and secondary protection zones in the chemical industry, which are not only exposed outdoors but also require high resistance to ultraviolet radiation and weather. Due to the storage of a large amount of flammable and explosive materials, secondary protection zones also have fire and anti-static requirements, and it is best to have A2 level or above fire and anti-static performance.

The further promotion of water-based polyurethane mortar flooring in the petroleum/chemical industry requires breakthroughs in the fields of fire prevention and anti-static. How to improve its workability and reduce material shrinkage while maintaining its chemical corrosion resistance is the future research and development direction of water-based polyurethane mortar.
With the upgrading of product technology, the water-based polyurethane mortar self leveling GN system will break through the limitations of the original food industry application in the future, and gain broader development space in more fields.
